The Course on Next-Generation Personal Authentication Technology, Social ICT Research Center, Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo, will hold a demonstration on lifestyle personal authentication in collaboration with industry at CEATEC JAPAN 2016. Moreover, a lecture will be held to introduce lifestyle authentication at a conference. Lifestyle authentication is a completely new personal authentication technology that uses data collected from smartphones and wearable devices that have recently become popular. Lifestyle authentication makes it possible to authenticate identities without the user's operation by using data collected by the user's devices such as smartphones and wearable devices, and sensors on surveillance cameras and IoT devices. This technology will reduce the stress of authentication procedures and build a robust foundation that makes it possible to take flexible safety measures.
In January 2017, a large-scale experiment with 50,000 participants will be conducted to test lifestyle personal authentication technology. Through this undertaking, the Center is poised to not only develop technology but also innovate social infrastructure.
