We are conducting studies on AI (artificial intelligence), NLP (natural-language processing), and so on, until the end of March 2024.
A major focus of our research is on data in several respects. First, personal data is important because the total value of personal services is larger than GDP. Some PDS (personal data store) is necessary to accumulate and socially share each individual’s own data with her own will, in order to optimize secure and fair utilization of her personal data. Second, the availability of data (of service recipients) for primary use (actual operation of AI to provide services to the recipients) is obviously more important than the availability of data for secondary use (big-data crunching for training AI). Third, documents (in a broad sense of human-accessible data) must be semantically structured based on standard ontologies in order to help people better compose and comprehend documents, since the reading/writing ability of average people is rather low according to OECD survey, among others, which AI or NLP cannot essentially dissolve.
We thus aim to build a smart society, in which everybody uses PDS to share her own data both to enjoy nice services and to contribute to social benefits, while producing semantically structured data in her daily living and work. Relevant research questions concern how to deploy this PDS in healthcare, education, retail, and other services, how semantically structured documents could be easier to compose than traditional linear documents, how to improve service values by PDS and semantically structured data, and so forth.
